Their first offering, “Come With Me”, is a dreamy & danceable single co-written and fronted by Brooklyn’s award-winning Maya Azucena (seen on MTV’s Made & TEDxWomen). The song would nestle up nicely with music of The Weeknd or Frank Ocean, exploring the whispier side of Maya’s 4-octave range.

NEW MUSIC: AAries | “Hoping Out Loud”

It’s been too long since the incredible and talented Ayana and Ayinké  blessed us with a new full length project, but this, at least is something to be getting on with. Their previous single “Don’t Give Up” from 2010 created a huge buzz on the Soul scene and went on to get a well deserved re-release earlier this year with dance remixes from people like Mark de Clive-Lowe, Reel People and Sean McCabe.

Their promo video for the stunning new single “Hoping Out Loud” (which we’re still waiting on a full release date) comes with clips from the iconic Soul Train line. Im hoping there’s good news soon and an album to follow . . “Hoping Out Loud”  has got me hungry for more !

Erykah Badu | “Cleva” CP’s Smarter Samba Mix | DOWNLOAD

DOWNLOAD: Flashback to 2008 with the DJ Captain Planet Smarter Samba remix of  Ms. Badu‘s “Cleva”. I recall picking this up while working at Fat City Records on the 4 track EP Bstrd Boots Vol: 5  which also had an interesting Jamaican Rub mix of Badu’s “Honey” on the flip side. However, Captain Planet takes the mid-tempo groove of the original and gives it a Latin/ Samba twist that would still sound great at any summer BBQ. Luckily for the digi music collectors the track is available as a free download via CP’s SoundCloud page. Grab it HERE
