Ashley Beedle returns to Kat Records for a release on their 45 offshoot with two of his personal favorites. This time Flora Purim gets the Beedle treatment with his sublime Heavy Disco Edit of the Latin Jazz Funker, “Angels”. If the Mizell Brothers had been born in Rio then this is what it probably would’ve sounded like! On the flipside of the 7″ is Brian Protheroe‘s ‘Pinball’. Ashley’s tripped out rework does exactly what it says on the tin… Stretched, dubbed and arranged to perfection. This lost psychedelic pop classic originally reached #22 in the charts in 1974, and now it’s back on Kat Records for 2011!

Both sides of this upcoming 12″ have been massive Meltdown tracks over the past month or so and it’s great to see it finally getting a full release! “Sometimes I Get It”along with “Sweet Love” will make up both sides of release number 012 from those good folk at KAT Records and it comes via the curious sounding Abu Maxim & the Praetorian Steppas (aka Manchester’s Freak Seven) With 2 tracks that go against the recent KAT grain of straight up edits to add a four to the floor flavour. “Sweet Love” is a Disco House string-led epic, mashing up Bernard Herrman ‘Taxi Driver’, Kleer ‘Intimate Connection’, Marvin Gaye ‘Right On’ and Herbie Hancock ‘Stars’ among others. Toughened 4/4 beats underpin a riot of strings, synths, sultry vocals & keys resulting in a modern day House track that will devastate any half decent sound system…Vinyl release only coming soon!
