A rewind back to February 2011 with a jazzy Hip-Hop joint taken from Saturdays Meltdown show tracklist. The son of Jazz Legend and Pioneer Hilton C. Felton Jr continues in his fathers legacy of making musical footprints instead of stepping into the shoes of conformity.
A rare joint recorded at XM Radio’s early days from a project called “Art! Hurts Project Zero”. Im a real lover of all the Jazz pioneers that came before us and “Queezy” has the ingredients i like in a HipHop track. Lifted from the album TheVault: Postcards from The Edge and Other Things which includes a collection of W. Ellington Felton’s music from the years of 1999 – 2008.

If you’re a fan of HonestMusic then you’re definitely in the right place. Washington DC’s very own Soul songbird Tamika ‘Love’ Jones is no newcomer to the music scene by any means, in fact she’s been putting in years of hard graft working the live circuit at venues around her home city of D.C, Maryland, Virginia and New York City building up a healthy fan base that now stretches far and wide. From her early years working alongside (mentor and D.C native) Grammy nominated producer and Bad Boy Hit Man Chucky Thompson on projects with acclaimed artists like Faith Evans, Mya, Lil’ Kim, and Grammy winner, songwriter Denise Rich, to more recent performances with Amel Larrieux, Yahzarah, Marsha Ambrosius, Jaguar Wright, Bilal, Maya Azucena and two time Grammy nominee Eric Roberson, she’s been waiting for her own time to shine.
Tamika’s self titled project (2010) highlights her talent and songwriting skills with a 7 tracks EP portraying her views on Love, life and relationships which everyone can relate to, so it comes as no surprise that her music and art has been likened to artists such as Jill Scott, Lalah Hathaway and Angie Stone.
Tamika has already picked up an international fan base as well as being an established part of the Meltdown playlists, so you need to make a note of her name because you’re definitely going to hear a lot more from this songstress for some years to come. I recommend you don’t miss the train and go and pick up her music today. The two tracks here are from her self titled EP featuring vocal support from fellow D.C artist Rayshun Lamarr. Stay tuned for her new project coming soon!
